Fields of Practice

A field is a defined geographical area, part of a larger landscape.

So it is with body systems and their scientific study. One feeds into the other, sharing both undercurrents and overcurrents.

What happens in one field stands to influence the other. These are our points of practice, our areas of influence, and our fields of operation.

State and Mind State and Mind

The Mind rules over the Body the way the State rules over a country.

Yet it does not operate independently of the Body.

The State governs with the permission of the People. So the Mind operates with the feedback of the Body.

Processes (reactions) in the Body affect the Mind as much as processes in the Mind (thoughts) affect the Body.

Health conditions rooted in physical body systems can influence our thought process and the way we see life.

The Health of the Mind and the quality of our thoughts in turn influence our systems physiology, from our resting heart rate to the output of our digestive glands.

The State of Mind is central to how we experience life and the behaviours that spring forth from those experiences.

We are often told everything starts with an idea.

Not in Health. In Health all starts with Intention.

The Intention to Treat coupled with the Intention to Recover.

Once that Intention is clear and operates unhindered by other conflicting intentions, our chances of recovery improve beyond medical expectations.

Bone and Flesh Bone and Flesh

The Body is made to move itself and move mountains.

Bone provides framework and structure, and Muscle pulls on Bone to bring about our actions and interactions with the environment and other people.

The Musculoskeletal System is an organ which goes easily forgotten in the recovery process.

Undervalued and underused, it sits present and silent in the background of both Health and Disease, nudging us to make the subtle connection between Strength and Recovery.

A connection which is fast being made in the medical literature after decades of dismissing the Musculoskeletal System as a passive bystander, as we start to see the loss of Muscle and Bone mass across time with every known disease , including the aging process itself.

The loss of Bone and Muscle means the loss of our ability to generate good, strong, solid movement.

A loss which can threaten, dishearten, and compromise life.

A loss which is and remains reversible.

Heart and Vessel Heart and Vessel

Every thought, every action, every beat.

It all drums in time to one common rhythm.

Without it, nothing moves. With and through it all life flows.

In many ways, Heart is all there is.

Heart in Matters of the Mind.

Heart in matters of the Body

It sets the pace and keeps the pulse.

It affects and is affected by every other system.

It is the link between Body and Mind, the conditions of which it senses and responds to from moment to moment.

Its magnetic frequency affects and is affected by other Hearts in its vicinity.

From and to it travel a million links large and small transporting blood to organs and back again, propelling the forward flow of life.

Through the highs and the lows, the gifts and the blows.

The Heart beats on / The Heart keeps beating/ Your Heart keeps beating.

Defense

Fist and Knife Fist and Knife

In the East it is called the “Wei Qi” – an energy that hovers in the byways and the highways of the body ready to present resistance to assault from within or without.

In the West we call it the Immune System, a phrase in sharp focus over the last three years as millions far and wide have been hit heavily by the Covi-19 phenomenon.

There is more to the Defensive Systems of the body than just fending off bad bugs and flu viruses trying to have a go at you from the outside.

The Intelligence of these Systems extends to every last corner of the internal environment, policing the flow of life and informing the seeking and destruction of cells that no longer serve the interests of the body or are otherwise infected or damaged beyond repair.

Between acting and reacting against potential threats, these Systems must also remain passive towards information being fed back on normal cells and structures serving their assigned function.

When this balance of roles gets disturbed, the body becomes either too open to aggressors from the outside, or too caught up with internal conflict on the inside, losing its grip on both territory and security.

This is how anything from chronic deep-seated infections to auto-immune thyroiditis and inflammatory arthritis can take hold inside the body and sabotage the defensive efforts of the body.

Treating such conditions with medicine alone is not always enough for a full recovery to take place.

Identifying and strengthening the weaknesses in the body’s defenses takes an investigative eye and a strategic approach, yet it can be done.

Gradually, not without difficulty, and with effort.

Yet done nonetheless.

Fluid and Filter Fluid and Filter

All nourishment we take in is transformed into Fluid.

That Fluid seeps seamlessly into ten thousand tiny veins that surround and embrace the Gut, blending with blood, becoming blood.

This Fluid is filtered of impurities through at least Three Pathways we know of, mostly via the Liver.

In the midst of all this we find the Gut acting as Border Control for what is beneficial to the Body, what is detrimental, what can be allowed to walk on out unchecked and what must be stopped and apprehended without delay.

The Gut is not a passive receiver of nutrition but rather an active and central player in the running of the body’s digestive, defensive and detoxification systems.

Power

Cell and Synergy Cell and Synergy

At the core of all life is Energy.

Behind every unit of Energy we use is a small power factory we call a Mitochondrion, turning Fuel from eating and Oxygen from breathing into the Power that energises Life and all its processes.

The amount of Power we generate
according to the needs of the system it serves.

The number of power factories an organ has depends on what quantity of energy it requires to run and how fast that energy burns out.

Liver cells, Nerve cells and Heart cells are some of the more energy-intensive areas in the body, requiring a consistent flow and release of power from Mitochondria in order to properly serve their purposes within the larger overall operations of the Body.
